I believe life brings many seasons. One person could have literally hundreds of different seasons in a life time. If you are a person who is slightly averse to change or tries to avoid it altogether, then seasons may not come naturally to you and the changes may not be as noticeable. You may not even think that you life has seasons. But if you take a moment to think about your past, you will find that we all do. A season for being born, being a child, teenager, young adult, student, parent, employee, boss and even time of REST.

I have found that rest is an extremely important part of being successful. Sounds counter intuitive, but I now know that I am more productive, more creative and easier to get along with for my family when i don’t overwork and do take the time to rest and in turn reflect on my accomplishments, whether they are good or not so good.

For someone like me who is always striving to do more, better myself, educate myself and help others as much as possible, change is not an option, it is a MUST. Life is too short to be spent in a job that you hate, a marriage that is destructive, around negative people and living a life that is not true to who you are. In 2018 i made the decision to leave the accounting career I had been in for 14 years. Not as easy decision, but as a person who is constantly looking for change and a deep desire to serve and help others, I could no longer sit in an office doing work I hated everyday, it was simply killing my soul.

Many years ago I suffered with depression, and spent the best part of 10 years feeling sorry for myself. Looking back, what a waste of time! I had no choice but to intently seek change in my life an thinking. The alternative was NOT good. Occasionally I know have a bad day or few hours, I am sure we all do. Back then it was rare that I had a good day. i used to mark them on my calendar to try and track any improvement.

These days I figure that the hiccups of life that happen along the way, are just that and there is so much to be learnt from things that don’t quite go the way we thought, or turn out really crappy. It gives us a second chance. It helps us to learn from failures or mistakes. As humans none of us is perfect and none of us ever will be, we need to embrace our humanity and see it as a strength, not a flaw.

Time is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present. You cannot make it, nor get it back, once you spend it, it’s gone forever.
Whenever things get tough as an entrepreneur, and don’t turn out as I planned, I always look to the one who made me and draw wisdom and peace from His love.
